The Front Page — First Impressions Matter

The front page is the most important page on the site. It’s the first thing a visitor sees, and it needs to do a lot of work quickly and gracefully.
A great front page for Birmingham Indivisible should:

    • Grab attention immediately — a clear, compelling statement of who we are and why it matters
    • Surface the most critical news and events — what’s happening right now that members and visitors need to know
    • Guide visitors intuitively — navigation that feels natural and leads them effortlessly to deeper information
    • Answer the questions people actually have, including:
      • Where do I check my voter registration status?
      • Who are the candidates and what do they stand for?
      • What are their positions on issues that matter to me?
      • What is Birmingham Indivisible’s mission?
      • How can I get involved?

All of this should be presented cleanly and without clutter — poetic in its simplicity, so a visitor never feels lost or overwhelmed. The goal is a page where everything important is visible and nothing important requires digging.
This is worth getting right before anything else.
